Justin Timberlake com Macklemore & Ryan Lewis dominano le nomination agli MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs), conquistandosi 6 candidature a testa.

Il video di Timberlake ‘Mirrors‘, si contenderà la vittoria contro ‘Thrift Shop’ del duo elettronico per il premio più ambito, ossia il ‘Video Of The Year’, ma gli artisti dovranno vedersela anche con Robin Thicke per ‘Blurred Lines‘, Taylor Swift con ‘I Knew You Were Trouble’ e Bruno Mars con ‘Locked Out Of Heaven‘.
A seguire Bruno Mars, con ben 4 nomination, mentre Thicke, i 30 Seconds To Mars, Miley Cyrus e Pink concorreranno in ben 3 categorie. Drake, Calvin Harris, Taylor Swift ed i Fun ambiscono a due premi ciascuno.

La cerimonia di premiazione si svolgerà il prossimo 25 Agosto al Barclays Center di Brooklyn, a New York.
Quest’anno si celebrano i 29 anni della rassegna, che debuttò per la prima volta nel 1984. Da quel giorno sino ad oggi, l’artista che ha vinto più premi è senza dubbio Madonna, che tra il 1986 e 1999 si è portata a casa ben 20 “Astronauti”. A seguire Justin Timberlake, che come solista si è aggiudicato ben 7 VMAs ed altrettanti ne vinse con gli ‘NSync.

L’anno scorso a trionfare furono i One Direction, che vinsero in ben tre categorie, anche se non si aggiudicarono il premio ‘Video of The Year’, vinto invece da Rihanna feat. Calvin Harris per il video di ‘We Found Love’.
