Gli Arctic Monkeys trionfatori assoluti agli NME Awards 2014

Sono gli Arctic Monkeys a trionfare agli NME Awards 2014, portandosi a casa la bellezza di 5 premi, incluse tre delle categorie più importanti: Best British Band, Best Live Band e Best Album.

Gli altri vincitori emersi nella rassegna che si è svolta ieri sera, in diretta dalla O2 Academy Brixton di Londra, sono Paul McCartney, Damon Albarn, Belle & Sebastian, Lily Allen ed Haim.  Gli Arctic Monkeys hanno fatto incetta di premi, battendo band del calibro di Foals, Palma Violets, Biffy Clyro, Disclosure e Two Door Cinema Club, grazie al loro ultimo album ‘AM’, uscito a settembre dello scorso anno. Oltre ai tre riconoscimenti già citati, la band si è aggiudicata il Best Fan Community Award ed il frontman Alex Turner si è aggiudicato anche il premio Hero Of The Year, battendo David Bowie, Lou Reed e Pussy Riot.
Il premio per il Best Solo Artist è invece andato a Lily Allen, che si è detta fiera di aver vinto in questa categoria in cui è davvero difficile emergere. I Disclosure si sono aggiudicati il Best Track Award per il loro singolo ‘White Noise‘.
Harry Styles dei One Direction ha vinto, per il secondo anno di fila, il Villain Of The Year, battendo Miley Cyrus, David Cameron e Vladimir Putin, mentre il Worst Band Award è andato alla band The 1975, che ha prevalso su One Direction e The Wanted.
